Please note: Before you can begin using CSV file import, we’ll need to adjust a setting on our end, so contact support@qgiv.com if you’re ready to get started.
Users with lots of optional mappings for DonorPerfect might prefer to update those mappings using CSV file import. With this bulk upload option, you’ll use a spreadsheet to set up the mapping locations for each optional mapping type and then upload all mappings for that type at the same time.
If you need a refresher on the traditional way to set up Optional Mappings in DonorPerfect, click here.
Once your settings have been updated, the Optional Mappings area will look like this:
For each optional mapping type, you’ll see options to Upload CSV and Download CSV Template.
If you already have mappings configured for a particular mapping type, you’ll see an option to Download CSV for your Saved Mappings, along with details about when the mappings were last uploaded and who uploaded them.
Whenever you click Upload CSV, everything in the new file will overwrite any previous uploads.
If you’re updating a mapping type that already has mappings, it’s important to download the existing CSV file for editing to ensure you don’t overwrite your existing mappings. Simply add to or change what is already in the Saving Mappings file before you upload again.
The CSV Template for each mapping type has columns that are specific to that type and will not work for any other mapping type. It’s important to use the files provided here to ensure that you include the correct information for each mapping.
When you open a CSV template, the first few columns will be pre-filled with data pulled from your Qgiv account for that mapping type.
For example, if you’re mapping Restrictions, you’ll see columns for Form, Form ID, Restriction, Restriction ID, and Sub-Restriction.
The remaining columns correspond to mapping locations in DonorPerfect.
You’ll fill in these columns for each row of Qgiv data, depending on whether you want to set up a mapping or exclude the data.
To exclude Qgiv data using a CSV file, simply type “Exclude” in the Exclude column. Leave the other columns blank.
To set up a mapping, you’ll need the Mapping Code for each of your DonorPerfect mapping locations. You can download a list of your mapping codes by clicking the Download Mapping Codes CSV link at the top of the Optional Mappings area.
You’ll use the codes in this file to decide where in DonorPerfect to send your Qgiv data.
For example, in my instance of DonorPerfect, the code for the Building Fund General Ledger is BF.
If I want to map data from a particular form to that General Ledger, I’d simply type BF in the General Ledger CODE column in the row for that form.
When your CSV file is ready, save it, and then click Upload CSV to select and upload the file from your save location.
And remember, whenever you want to update your mappings, make sure you download the Saved Mappings CSV file first so you don’t lose the mappings you’ve already configured.
