Please note: You must be a HEPdata customer using their eMatch Portal tool in order to set up the integration.
The HEPdata integration makes it easy for donors to determine if their donation to your nonprofit is eligible for being matched by their employer. This helps ensure nonprofits aren’t leaving matched gifts on the table when their supporters give. The status of matching gifts from the HEPdata matching gifts integration can be tracked in the Matching Gifts Report.
This article explains how to activate the HEPdata integration for peer-to-peer campaigns.

Enabling the HEPdata Integration
To set up the integration first navigate to the peer-to-peer campaign you want to add the integration to. Simply click Forms from your Org-Level Dashboard then select the campaign you want from your forms list.
Next, click Donations under Donation Setup, select the Settings tab, and look for the Enable Employer Matching Gifts toggle.
Once enabled, you'll see two tabs. The first is Matching Integration, which is for setting up matching gift service integrations. The other is for manually matching matched gifts. Stay on the Matching Integration tab.
Then, click Activate to the right of HEPdata on the list of matching gift partner services.
Enter your HEP Data API Access Token. Then make sure API Connection shows as Connected. You can receive your API Access Token by contacting HEPdata.
Matching donations are counted as offline gifts—this means they'll be governed by the setting you choose in the Include Unverified Donations toggle, which can be found under in the Goals and Thermometers section of the Campaign Settings.
If you'd like unverified matching donations to immediately appear in fundraising thermometers, set the Include Unverified Donations toggle to the "on" position.
Save your campaign settings then select Donation Form under View Campaign Pages to ensure the HEPdata matching gift search area appears on your campaign's Donation form. You can also preview the Registration Form to ensure the Matching Gifts area appears when an Optional Gift is entered.
The search bar pictured below is how the integration will appear on your campaign pages. The Matching Gifts Title and Matching Gifts Description can be customized in the Campaign Builder.
What Donors See
Now, when your donors make their gifts, they’ll see the search bar with messaging encouraging them to search for their employer and determine if their donation is eligible for a matching gift.
Donors can search for all or part of their employer’s name then select it from the list. If the employer’s name doesn’t appear it means they don’t have a matching gift program monitored by HEPdata. Instead, donors should ask their employer directly if the company has a matching gift program.
They can then complete entering their payment details and finish making their donation. This integration works with both one-time and recurring donations. If the donor sets up a recurring gift and selects their employer from the matching gift search bar a matching gift record will be created for each instance of their recurring donation.
If they elected to seek a matching gift, the donor will receive an email automatically from HEPdata (no-reply@matchinggifts.com) with links to their employer’s matching gift paperwork.
They then submit the paperwork listing your nonprofit as the beneficiary of the match. Note that different employers have different matching gift requirements and not all applications are completed in the same way.
Matching Gifts Report
You can check the status of matching gifts in the Matching Gifts Report.
If you need an in-depth look at the details of a matching gift or determine whether a transaction is associated with a matching gift, locate the matching gift's Transaction ID and click it to view the Transaction Details page.
At the top of the page you'll see two buttons. One directs you to the Transaction Details page of the original donation. The other voids the matching gift (used if the donor notifies you their donation was ineligible for an employer match). Beneath that are the matching gift transaction details.
You can also view a donation's associated matching gift. If you open the Transaction Details page for a donation associated with a matching gift, an option is added at the top of the Transaction Details page to View Matching Donation.
