Please note: Donation processing with bill-to-carrier will cease on September 30, 2024. We recommend you transition your current Bill-to-Carrier package to our Text Fundraising package with Text-to-Donate. This will require an update to your campaign keyword and shortcode. Submit a ticket to get started!
Pro tip: While you’re transitioning from Bill-to-Carrier to Text-to-Donate, you can update the messaging that’s sent to donors who text your current keyword. Just select a donation form you’d like to use instead. Then, submit a ticket, letting us know which form you’d like to use, and we’ll coordinate with Mobile Giving Foundation to update the message.
Qgiv offers a bill-to-carrier text fundraising option that adds donors’ donation amounts to their phone bill. Donors can make one-time or recurring bill-to-carrier payments without the need to complete an online form.
If you’re looking for a text fundraising solution that is carrier-based rather than form-based, bill-to-carrier is the perfect solution. To get set up with bill-to-carrier, please email support@qgiv.com and we can help you with eligibility and application requirements through the Mobile Giving Foundation.
There is an annual commitment per keyword. Keywords and their associated fees are:
- $1,788 is the annual fee for your first keyword.
- There is an $1,188 annual fee for each additional keyword.
- A $0.50 transaction fee is applied to each bill-to-carrier donation.

Bill-to-carrier keywords must be linked to a specific frequency and gift amount. Your frequency/amount options for your keywords are as follows:
One-time donations are available in amounts of $5, $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, $40, or $50. Recurring donations are available in amounts of $5, $10, $25, and $50.
Please note: Only one amount and frequency can be associated with each keyword.
After you’ve submitted your application, the Mobile Giving Foundation will reach out to us at Qgiv to let us know you applied and paid the $350 application fee. They’ll also verify that you’re our customer. When your application is approved, Qgiv will be listed as your mobile service provider. At that point, you'll work with Qgiv directly on picking your keyword, amount, and frequency, and we'll work directly with Mobile Giving Foundation to get that set up and active for you.
Your donors’ receipts for donations made using bill-to-carrier will look different from other Qgiv receipts. Using bill-to-carrier means that your donors are giving to the Mobile Giving Foundation, and they disperse those funds to your organization by acting as a donor-advised fund. Mobile Giving Foundation will send a receipt to donors.
Want to see a demo of bill-to-carrier? Text the keyword "demo" to 20222 and you'll receive a text asking you to confirm the transaction by texting your billing zip code. You’ll then receive a confirmation text message. Don't worry, you won't be charged anything during the demo!
The donation will appear on your donors’ phone bill as a combination of an abbreviated form of your charity name, Mobile Giving Foundation’s contact information, and the donation amount. How this displays on phone bills will vary depending on the service provider.
Bill-to-carrier transaction details will be available to view in Qgiv. For an overview of transactions received through the bill-to-carrier service, select Transactions under Reporting on your dashboard.
Click Advanced Filtering and filter by Payment Method. This will display buttons associated with each payment method available to your organization. Select Bill-to-Carrier to view only bill-to-carrier donations.
Clicking on the donation ID will give you a more in-depth look at the Transaction Details for an individual donation. When reviewing bill-to-carrier transactions, the information provided to your organization is limited. You will be provided the donor's phone number, donation amount, and the time they gave. Transaction details are displayed as shown below:
Please note: The form, keyword, and phone number have been blurred out for privacy purposes.
