With Qgiv's Text Fundraising package (formerly Mobile Suite), you can send outbound text messages to your supporters. Members of your community can text one of your organization’s keywords to opt in to your messaging contact list.
If donors opt in to receive text communications with you through a donation form or by word of mouth, you can manually add them to your messaging contact list. However, when you send them their first message, instructions for opting out will automatically be sent to the manually added members on your contact list.

Opt In Confirmation and Opt Out Instructions
When your supporters text in your keyword to Opt In, they’ll receive an Opt-In Confirmation message like the message below.
If you added a supporter to a contact list without them having texted a keyword, their first message will automatically include Opt-Out Instructions if they do not wish to stay on this list.
After your first message, future texts to supporters who didn’t opt themselves in by texting a keyword will no longer see the Opt-Out language on messages.
For instance, here’s an example of a follow-up message providing details on a last-minute venue change for a gala fundraising event.
Personalization and Multiple Contact Lists
Note how the text is addressed to "Shay." Donors will see their first name if one was provided in the Contact List for them when you insert the %FirstName% tag in your text message. If there is no first name in the contact list, when a message goes out that is using the tag, no text will appear.
Donors can opt in or be added to multiple contact lists. The last text message was sent from a fundraising event contact list. Your donors can receive texts for multiple purposes so long as they are on a contact list included in the outbound text message.
This next text is asking for emergency donations to help a food pantry restock its supplies. It can be set up to only send to donors or can include multiple contact lists.
Opting Out
If your supporter wants to Opt Out of a contact list, wants to stop receiving messages of any kind, or wants to cancel a Text-to-Donate Pledge, they can send a message to opt out.
By texting STOP with no keywords, your supporter will be opted out from all text communication. To opt back in, they can text START to resubscribe.
Texting HELP STOP will send your supporter two messages. The first is a list of all keywords that they are subscribed to and which organization the keyword belongs to. A second message instructs them to respond with the keyword they wish to opt out from.
If a supporter is receiving too many messages related to a specific keyword, they can unsubscribe from messages from that specific keyword. They do this by sending a text containing the keyword plus the word STOP. They will then receive an Unsubscribed Confirmation Text.
Canceling a Pledge and Unsubscribing
Sometimes, a donor may need to cancel a pledge they created using the text-to-donate tool. A good reason they may need to cancel a pledge is if they accidentally created a pledge for the wrong amount. Canceling all text-to-donate pledges does not unsubscribe your donor from any keyword subscriptions. Donors can cancel their pledge by texting STOP plus pledges.
Sometimes, people will want to unsubscribe from all outbound messages from your organization. They could feel that they were subscribed in error or could be changing phone numbers and don't want the recipient of their previous phone number to receive messages on their behalf. Whatever the reason, it's simple to unsubscribe from all outbound text communications.
Supporters can text STOP Alerts to be automatically unsubscribed.
Resubscribing Help
If the supporter unsubscribes from all alerts, they'll receive a confirmation text with instructions to text START to get help resubscribing to your alerts.
Texting Help Start will send your supporter two messages. The first is a list of all keywords that they unsubscribed from and which organization the keyword belongs to. A second message instructs them to respond with the keyword they wish to subscribe to to be opted back in.
When the keyword is texted in, your supporter will receive a confirmation message letting them know they've successfully opted in.
