Looking for a way to include customized information for restrictions, donation amounts, dedications, or GiftAssist in your donation receipts? The Conditional Content tool is the answer!
Conditional content can be added to your standard donation, recurring, event, and pledge receipts. The content will only appear if an action taken by a donor triggers its appearance.
For example, if you set up a conditional content box for donations to a certain restriction, the content in that box will only appear when a donor gives to that particular restriction. Otherwise, they’ll only see the content you’ve entered outside of the box in the main part of the receipt editing area.

Getting Started
To start, navigate to the receipts area of your form and open a receipt type for editing.
You'll find the option for inserting Conditional Content along the bottom of the editing toolbar.
If this drop-down menu doesn't appear, it’s because you have no active restrictions, dedications, or donation amounts, you haven’t enabled GiftAssist, and/or you aren't using text-to-donate tools.
Editor View
In the image below, we’ve added five conditional content blocks — one for a specific restriction, one for a donation greater than a certain amount, one for any type of dedication, one for GiftAssist (you'll see it listed as Covered Costs in the Conditional Content drop-down), and one for donor's country. This last option is useful if you need to send different tax information to donors in the US and Canada.
This is how the receipt appears in the editor (we've added the color-coded highlighting to emphasize the differences between the blocks):
What Donors See
Let’s take a look at a receipt a donor would receive by email if they donated to the Meals restriction, gave more than $100, dedicated their donation to someone, used GiftAssist to help cover costs, and donated from the United States.
Tada! Your donors won’t see the outlines of the conditional content boxes (or the highlighting in these images) — they’ll just see a personalized, streamlined email thanking them for being so generous.
Event Registration Content
Event Registration receipts can include conditional content based on the registration cost.
If you're offering both free and paid registration packages, you can use the $0 Registration and Registration With Payment conditional content blocks.
Text Fundraising and Additional Help
With text fundraising growing in popularity, it's also important to be able to acknowledge donors giving using Qgiv's text-to-donate tools. If you're using text fundraising, you can insert conditional content that sends donors a specialized email when their text-to-donate pledge is fulfilled. Just select Fulfilled Promise under the Text-to-Donate header in the Conditional Content drop down menu to send a custom message to donors who complete their donation via text.
If you’d like to include a conditional content box for ANY restriction, it will show up when someone gives to any restriction available on your form. You can also choose to include a box for any dedication type, as well. How specific you get is totally up to you!
