Introduction
When you set up restrictions, your donors can give to certain funds or programs of your choosing. To learn how to set up restrictions, head to this article.
The Qgiv donation form defaults to the Amounts System setup for donations. When a donor makes a gift with the amounts system in place, they:
- Choose their gift amount
- Choose a single restriction IF you have them set up in your control panel
If you would like donors to be able to split their donation up among multiple restrictions, you can switch over to Multi-Restriction Giving.
What Donors See With Multi-Restriction Giving
The form will display a list of restrictions and applicable descriptions. Each restriction will also display donation amounts of your choice. Donors can select multiple restrictions and choose a donation amount for each one.
Enabling Multi-Restriction Giving
This setting is configured on a per-form basis.
From the options along the left side of your screen, you can either select your form from the Go to a Form pop-out, or you can visit My Qgiv, where you'll click Manage Form to access the form-level control panel.
Click Form Settings>Donations>Settings. Then, toggle on Enable Multi-Restriction Giving.
Be sure you scroll all the way down and save your changes before navigating away!
Configuring Multi-Restriction Giving for Standard Donation Forms
To configure your Restrictions, head over to the Restrictions area of the Form Settings.
Here, you can upload an image for each restriction and decide which amounts to display to donors. You can also Enable Sub-Restrictions if you're using them.
Check out this article to learn more about Multi-Restriction settings options.
By default, the restriction amounts are collapsed until the donor selects a restriction. Then, the amounts will display on the form.
Pro tip: We recommend you hide the restriction amounts until a donor selects a restriction to keep your donation form more streamlined and to avoid giving your donors too many options right away.
If you’d like your restriction amounts displayed before the donor selects a restriction, head to Form Builder, and open the donation amount settings.
In the drop-down labeled “When should the amount and sub-restriction options associated with each restriction display?”, choose Always.
Click Update to save the setting.
