If you'd like to add a progress thermometer to your donation form in Form Builder, you'll first need to add a goal.
You can set up multiple goals to be toggled on and off as needed. Whatever you have toggled on in the Goals section of your donation form settings will show up in the Goals drop-down of your thermometer widget settings in Form Builder.

Setting a Goal
To get started, head to the Goals section of your form-level control panel. You can get there by navigating to the Fundraising Management page.
Then, select Manage Form for the form you'd like to work with. Goals are set on each form and only apply to that particular form.
Next, in your form-level control panel, click Goals.
Click Add New Goal.
First, you'll enter a Name for your goal, and then enter a Goal Amount.
If you toggle on the Goal has start/end dates option, an area will appear in which you can set those dates.
If you’re using FundHub and you’d like to set a default thermometer goal, toggle on Primary goal.
Next, determine what you’d like to be reflected in the thermometer by navigating to the What Should Count Toward This Fundraising Goal section.
These settings will give you direct control to decide if you’d like to create a donation-specific thermometer, event-specific thermometer, or some variation of those!
Once you've configured your goal how you'd like, click the Add New Goal button to save your work. Your goal will now show up in the Goals listing. You can edit, delete, or reorder your goals, if desired.
Adding a Thermometer to a Form
To add a thermometer to your donation form or event, click the Form Builder icon in the upper-right corner of your form-level or event-level control panel.
In the toolbar, click the Widgets tab. You can click and drag the Thermometer widget to various places on your form. Once you've picked your desired location, just drop the widget there!
Please note: In order for the thermometer widget to appear as an option here, you must first set up at least one goal.
To access the thermometer's settings so you can adjust its appearance and select a goal, click the gear icon in the corner of the widget. The eyeball icon gives you the option to hide the widget on your public-facing form. This is useful if you'd like to embed the widget elsewhere, but not have it appear on your public-facing donation form.
You can give your thermometer a Widget Title, if you want. This will display above the widget on the public-facing form. It's not required!
If you decide to add a title, you can adjust the Title Alignment above the widget.
Then, choose a Goal from the drop-down. Any active goals in the Goals section of your control panel will display here.
After that, select a Style — either Thermometer or Simple. The styles are shown below.
Thermometer:
Simple:
Choose if you'd like your thermometer to be horizontal or vertical from the Layout drop-down, and then select your Fill Color. If you have a color code, you can enter that here, as well. If you click the square, a color editor with a color code entry field will appear.
Next, you'll see some options for what information you'd like displayed on your thermometer.
- Display Achieved Amount will show the dollar amount raised on your form during the time period you entered for your goal.
- Display Goal Amount will display the total dollar amount of your goal.
- Display Goal Completion Percentage will display the % of your goal that's been raised.
- Display Thermometer Countdown will show a timer counting down to the end date you entered for your goal (if you entered one).
When you've configured the widget settings how you'd like, click Update. Also, be sure to click the green Save Page button in the top right corner before navigating away.
Your thermometer will now display on your public-facing form!
Notes on Thermometers
When donors give toward the goal reflected in your thermometer, the percentage raised will increase. When you've met the goal, the thermometer will display that 100% of goal is reached. If your organization is able to raise more than the goal, the percentage of goal reached will exceed 100%.
Thermometer data automatically updates every 60 seconds to display your goal progress. You don't have to refresh the page to see this.
Both online and offline transactions can be displayed in your thermometer.
Please note: Unverified offline and unfulfilled matching donations are excluded from thermometers by default. To include those transactions in thermometers, you’ll need to enable the toggle in the donation form’s general settings. This setting applies to all of your form’s goals and thermometers.
Because the thermometer is placed on your form via a widget, if you embed your form on your website, the thermometer will be there, as well.
If you're using the Qgiv Landing Page, you can also add the thermometer widget in a layout container on your landing page.
Embedding Your Thermometer
You can embed a thermometer on your website or another page without embedding your donation form. All you need is the thermometer's embed code.
If you'd like to embed just the thermometer somewhere on your website, head to your form’s landing page. You can easily access the landing page by clicking View Form at the top of your form-level control panel.
Hover over the thermometer widget on the landing page, and click the <> icon in the upper right corner.
Please note: You’ll need to have placed the thermometer widget on the landing page, not directly on your donation form.
You'll be presented with the dimensions of your thermometer, as well as the code you'll need to embed it! Just copy and paste the code into the editor on the page where you'd like to embed the thermometer.
Remember that you can use the eyeball icon in Form Builder to hide the widget if you’re embedding the thermometer on another page but don’t want it to appear on the donation form landing page.
